BoomShankar at (Not Just) Jazz By The Bay

Damn! This has started looking like an exclusive BoomShankar blog :D

Just back from BoomShankar's gig at Jazz (who, by the way preferred calling them 'BhoomShankar') and what can we say, we are just so proud of our college band!


They played for three hours and the setlist included THREE brand new OCs that were never performed before - Saaya (written by Vinay Trivedi), Say 'Hello' and Bombay Blues.


And ya, BoomShankar officially has four vocalists from now on with Yudi doing 'Smoke on Water'.
For those who missed the show, we have all three hours on record... so do let us know if you want some priceless bootleg from the band's early days ;)

SP's very own BoomShankar has gone professional! The band gave a stunning performance at Hard Rock Cafe on Tuesday, 8th April.

Crescendo '08 -The night that was...

20th March was a great day at SPJIMR...
One, it was the farewell night for the class of 2008
Two, it was the last day of the year for the class of 2009
Three, it was the first performance of DanceInc., SP's very own dance troop and
Four, it was the night of Crescendo 2008.

Crescendo started at midnight and went upto 3.30 in the morning. The night was special since it was the last time SP's much loved band, BoomShankar played for the last time at SP.
The night saw some amazing performances including two BoomShankar originals, "Teri Deewani", "Knocking on Heaven's Door", "O Janeja", "Chura Liya", an SP version of "Purani Jeans" and Nitin Sharma's stunning performance of "Yeh Dosti" where he played Harmonica-Guitar-Drums - all at once!

Crescendo '08

Crescendo is that night of the year, when all the musically gifted souls at SPJIMR unite to create magic on stage. This year, the occasion is doubly special, as Crescendo coincides with the farewell night for S P Jain class of 2008.

20th March is the day to look out for. Watch this space for pics n' vids...

Let there be love!

On Wednesday, 13th Feb '08, Radio MusIG played a very special show... dedicated to the crazy lil' thing called - yup, yup - Love!
A long list of love songs, most of 'em requested by our own listeners - some of 'em going out to their special ones ;)

The mood, of course, was set by our very own Yudi, who kept sending lovey-dovey MusIG Mood Makers to the junta all through the week.

The show was definitely the Radio MusIG show with maximum requests so far, which goes on to prove just one point... if you gotta say it, the best way is to say it with music!

Yeah! Boom Shankar's Sameer, Nitin, Aniruddha and Yudi - this time joined by Meghana and Amrita on backing vocals - were the champions at NM College's "Echoes of Silence" (a part of the college's BMS wing's annual festival "Drishti")

And here's the best part - as winners of the event, our very own two-month old band get to play at HARD ROCK CAFE for an entire evening!
