Goodbye :)

8th April 2009 marks the end of SPJIMR Class of '09. And with that, it's time for MusIG to say goodbye.

It's been two awesome years... We've screened movies, seen gigs together, played at Crescendo, shared songs and most of all, played the much-loved radio MusIG. And we had a great time doing all of that.

Team MusIG says a big Thank You to all you folks at SPJIMR and beyond, who have been with us through this journey. Wish you all loads of success and happiness in times to come.

We take your leave. The music will last forever, though.

Cheers!

2 Point 4

Dear Friends,

This is to bring into your kind notice this extract from the “Students Guidelines”

“3.3.2 In addition to the above, to qualify for promotion to Second Year, a participant’s academic cumulative

grade point average (CGPA) in the first year (Foundation, Trim-1, 2, 3, and Comprehensive should not be

less than 2.4, and he /she should fulfil the following conditions which are applicable for Trimester 1, 2, and

3 altogether:

A) He / she should not obtain more than one ‘F’ in the first year. (1F)

B) He / she should not obtain a ‘D’ in more than three courses, provided that he / she does not obtain

‘F’ in any course. (3D)

C) He/ She should not obtain a ‘D’ in more than one course if he / she has already obtained ‘F’ in

another course. (1F + 1D)”

In the last one year all of us have been touched closely by the “G word” called “Grades”. Our lovely freshers didn’t have any respite either. Just a few months into SPJAIN and grades are all, most of them think of. Even “Lord Krishna” once preached about the importance of grades into the system ;) So grades do make one’s life, career etc. etc. and in case some of you are wondering what this is about (especially my fellow PGP2 batchmates), the idea is Not to make you nostalgic and start thinking about Grades again. NOT AT ALL!!!

Because to us D,C,B,A and F are not just grades. For us these are notes which can be weaved mellifluously into Music.

Boom Shankar did it once (and twice) and now its left to the young blood (and also to some of the older ones) to carry forward the tradition.

Musically your,

MusIG turns 1

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It's 12th of September and the coolest group at SPJIMR turns a year old today!

We've had an awesome year making SP a more musical place in the year that went by - from Gig Alerts, MusIG Mood Makers and movies to helping the institute get an awesome set of instruments and playing the much loved Radio MusIG from 11ish to the wee hours... and we've loved doing every bit of it.

Thanks a lot for the 3,500+ pageviews on MusIG.blogspot.com and those super-encouraging pings during our radio shows and for the enthusiasm and reception and the love showered by all of you... your encouragement is all that matters, really! Please keep it up :)

Loads of love,
The Music Interest Group @ SPJIMR

Bassist extraordinaire, Roger Waters, turns 65 today...

Happy birthday, Roger. It's time to forget the bitterness and reunite to make some original studio material again, what say? ;)

Zero no more...

Zero's farewell gig, 30th August 2008

You never realise that a community is growing until the oldest, the biggest, the best-known people leave the scene and you know that will change nothing - the family will live through it and will keep growing...

"Stop listening to covers... please!", said Rajeev Talwar, while bidding a final goodbye to the overwhelmed crowd at Independence Rock XXIII, which sang along with Zero to the band's anthem, PSP, at the band's last gig ever.

Zero is where a lot started and while the group is no more, Indian Rock is better than ever before. MusIG wants to bow to everyone who holds the guitar, drumsticks and the microphone anywhere across the 28 states.

Let's use the covers for soundcheck...
Let's create originals that makes everyone sing along...
Let's make the world start listening to India.

Amen

Radio MusIG's brand new season premiered on 24th June, this time playing out to the new PGP1 for the first time.
With tonnes of requests coming in, it was surely the most active shows we've had!

And here's some news: MusIG plans to come up with plenty of theme shows soon... stay tuned!
